4. Setting of Pre-processor parameters

The Pre-processor controls the parameters for conversion of the IGES CAD files into the GEO files used by the nesting package, e.g. conversions of line / splines / polyline / arc etc and the associated tolerance bands chosen for these functions. Alteration of Pre-processor parameters on a routine basis should not be necessary once the system is up and running and the CAD files produced are to a repeatable standard.

To open the Pre-processor, double click the icon or access it from the "Console" window. Select the parameter area of interest and press "load" to view the current settings. If any alterations are made then 'save', otherwise 'cancel'.

If difficulties are encountered during the next stage of building the Nest table and the Pre-processing of IGES files, then areas, which should be checked first are:-

Units of the input file:- if the IGES file is not in imperial units, go to 'General Pre-processor parameters \ load ' and change units of "In/Outputfile" as appropriate Layer exclusion:- under ' General parameters', check whether 'layer exclusion' has been selected. This is used for excluding the conversion of specified layers containing non-shape information, for example:- text, ply direction arrows etc. To confirm the layers currently included in this list, go to C:\ nesting \ run \ Lev_excl.lst ( this is currently set for levels 0 to 9 inclusive)

For information on the function of other settings see GFM nesting system handbooks.
